Cool animation and interesting visuals.

On a side note however, I'm not sure what you're on, but please cut back.
It can't be good for you.

Jae responds:

Haha thanks for the concern

Successful flight.

Considering the apparent time restraints you were under, I think that you did a pretty good job. The punchline wasn't that funny, however the animation and quality were awesome.
A little more practice writing under pressure could do you wonders. Hope to see you on the front page again soon.

Evolution of a comedy

I was glad to see a second Fable II experience, since I enjoyed the first one so much. And it was gladness well rewarded. The sequel is faster, funnier and overal a better animation.

The animation style fits the subject matter well; it's cartoony visuals and interesting character designs worked really well.

The quality of the animation too was fluent and kept a feeling of professionalism throughout the piece. I have one complaint in that when the dude at the end is tossed through the window, there isn't an effect of smashing glass, more of a magical appearing hole in the window . Though this is just me nitpicking.

The quality of the voice acting was one issue that I had against the previous, particularly John who sounded like he was having trouble reading his script. However thankfully this didn't impair my experience this time. The speed of the voices is very noticeable, delivering punchlines at a rapid pace before we can react to the zinger proceeding it. It also makes the occasion embarrassing silence have that much more of an effect.

The hero character (forgot his name already) has lost none of it's appeal; the guy oozes a combination of idiocy, heroism and smugness, which gives the character a fresh characterisation and sense of a new face to the already impressive collection of newgrounds characters. John has grown as a character from the previous animation. Before I felt like he was more of a normal guy, who occasionally got his own back on the hero for picking on him. Now he comes across as more of an asshole, and more of a representation of the randomers who occasionally join in as a co-op partner and this sort of game; the sort of burk who comes in and fucks everything up.

Overal a massive improvement. Anticipating the Fable III experience.
And for the sake of argument, you suck, this is stupid. It's nothing like Fable II and Fable II is out already you idiot, LOL ROFLCOPTER
Plus John looks like vault boy. Nothing wrong with that, just saying.

WhiteLightning responds:

Thank you very much for the in-depth, awesome review. I think I'll post this to my Facebook page :)

Funky indeed

The stick fighter genre is like the rattata of the animation world, there are so many of them, but with a little nurturing they can become something great.
This particular stick fight is one of the latter.

The choreography of the stick fight was basic, save for a more slapstick feel and incorporating little segments where the fighters just enjoy the music. This style makes for an entertaining fight, and not just the same shit that we've seen a billion times over.

The animation also has a sense of humour and heart; not taking itself too seriously. The opening joke regarding the song really stood out in my mind, and it was only uphill from there.

The music was very fitting with the action, and again delivered a very different pace to the usual generic stick fight. In a very real sense the animation became less of a stick fight, and more of a music video, with the music very much becoming the most influential part of the entire piece.

The animated style was fairly basic, though since this is a stick fight were talking about I honestly didn't expect much in terms of detail.

In short, a fun little video to brighten my day.

LOL I loved that analogy! You're exactly spot on! Thanks a lot I enjoyed reading your comment :)

Pretty cool

Popular franchises like Zelda are rip...sorry "Parodied" all the time by fans without original idea's. So to find a gen in the fanboy filth pile is always satifying.

Firstly I love it when the style is done faithfully, especially in a solo movie like this. Wouldn't necessarily fly in a collab, but it works well here.
The quality of the animation too is well done. It moves fluently and really shines out in amongst the afore mentioned dirt pile.

The sound is taken from the game, which adds a new depth to the faithfulness of the movie. Much better than you attempting what you think he should sound like, but then again the movie dosen't need voice acting to deliver it's punchline (pardon the pun).

This leads me to the content. The joke was well executed and funny. Not LOL funny but I could appreciate the joke.

I love when a film ticks all my boxes, and this one did. What really sold me was the animation itself. It really shows when more effort is put in, and this really did.
You can appreciate animation a lot more when it is a parody and not your own jokes with over used character designs.

ScottFalco responds:

Haha yeah the fact that so many get submitted, and the length of my flash was why I was hesitant to upload here

And thank you, I tried to capture Wind Waker's style, and actually looked at a ton of screenshots from the game in order to draw Windfall, its also animated at 30fps

And yeah, for something like this, voice acting wouldnt of worked

The joke was mostly just supposed to be unexpected, and give people a bit of a chuckle,
as mentioned, this was mostly for practice, and so a huge LOL moment was not the point

and thank you, I love when people appreciate the animation and the time put into it

Awesomeness

Brilliant animation and excellent use of cinematography. Undoubtedly excellent presentation.
Excellent design work as well. The characters and backgrounds were excellent and carried your own touch to an common concept.

The music was chosen well and fit the scene perfectly. You also gave credit where it was due rather than trying to claim it.

Not really sure that I can fault your presentation.

The choreography too was spot on. It added a depth of excitment to the piece, as well as maintaining the pace.

XtremelyVenomous responds:

Geez. what did i do to deserve this much praise?

why thank you sir.

Awesome!

An amazing job bro. I'll admit that it seemed slow at first, but the punchline it was building to was definitely worth the wait.
I can't think of how you can improve this. Keep it up!

MyKindOfFlash responds:

Well I hope I do improve, I don't wanna peak this early. I have many more ideas and still lots of improvement to make in terms of animation so hopefully my next cartoon will blow this piece of trash out of the water!

Thank you for taking the time to review! :)

Meh

That was kinda funny, but I wasn't too blown away by the animation, and that last part where he's just standing there with a cigarette didn't really make much sense to me. It certainly didn't make me laugh. Good job with the voices, both clear and funny. Good thing that Tomamoto got that new recording equipment; it seems to be doing well for you.

Not much eles to say. Pretty decent gag, held down by some lame jokes.

ImpendingRiot responds:

Yeah, it was just for fun, I wasn't looking to change the world

Most awesomeness!

A nice, relaxing piece. I especially enjoyed the backgrounds, which added a sort of hand painted feel, and the music was also a very nice fit. It was both peaceful and sad in nice amounts, with a little bit of hope at the end.
However I would like to comment on your animation for the birds. The movements were not very fluent, and the part when the birds were in the park (I'm guessing that it was what that bird was hoping for it's egg right?), used a lot of still images, which I felt took momentum away from the finished product. When I comment on the movement, I'm not referring to the birds head movement, since that's how their heads move.

In short, a most awesome animation which fell short in terms of character movement.
On a side note, not effecting my review, what was up with that blob that lived in the tree?

Lancorz responds:

Thanks, I realise that the bird animations are a little less detailed than they could be however I was only given around 2 months which were soley dedicated to story boarding and design. If I had more time I would have experimented with movement and researching more time on animals etc.
Also the blob was just to add variety to the creature content and to add a little cute-ness to it.
